Man From Chesingoro Village Detained Over Alleged Sexual Assault On One And a half-Year-Old Niece


A man from Chesingoro village in Kusumek, Kericho County, is currently in custody at Litein Police Station after allegedly sexually assaulting his one-and-a-half-year-old niece.

According to Kusumek Sub-Location Assistant Chief Alfred Korir, the suspect, identified as Justice Kipsigei Cheruiyot, was caught in the act inside a private space at his residence.

He was apprehended by his sister the child’s mother and members of the community who heard the child’s cries for help.

Korir explained that the child’s mother had stepped outside the home to attend to other chores, leaving the young girl behind.

During this time, the suspect allegedly took the opportunity to assault the toddler in his cubicle.

The assistant chief expressed shock that the child’s own uncle could commit such a heinous act, noting that the mother did not suspect her brother was capable of such behavior.

Angered community members severely beat the suspect before turning him over to the police for custody.

The injured child was immediately taken to Kapkatet Hospital and later transferred to Kericho County Referral Hospital for specialized care.

Korir emphasized the importance of families remaining vigilant and warned against leaving young children under the care of even trusted individuals, highlighting that such negligence can lead to tragic incidents.
