Mob attacks and burns murder suspect’s car in drama in Huruma, Eldoret


Police had to fire to the air to rescue a murder suspect in Huruma area, Uasin Gishu County.

The suspect had been accused of killing a man who was allegedly trying to break into his home to steal.

He said he found the suspect trying to break into his home and beat him up.

On realizing he was unconscious, he dragged the body to a nearby bush and left it there, police said of the November 18 incident.

When a mob found the body, they surrounded the house of the man in attempt to lynch him.

It was then that police from Huruma police station rushed to the scene and managed to rescue him after deploying teargas canisters and live bullets.

Police said the mob later burnt the man’s car- a Peugeot 505.

The police managed rescued the suspect to the local police station before picking up the body to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.

And a man collapsed and died while seeking to be recruited to the National Police Service. The incident happened on Monday November 17, 2025 at the Karisa Maitha Grounds.

The man was rushed to a local hospital where he died while being treated.

The cause of the death was not immediately known. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, police said.

During the nationwide exercise, some 10,000 recruits were recruited.

Elsewhere in Luanda, Vihiga County, a businesswoman was robbed of Sh132,000 in an attack by six men.

The woman had closed her business in the town and was headed home in a salon car when another vehicle blocked her way.

The men on the attack car jumped out and ordered the woman who was with her daughter to surrender and lie down which she complied with.

It was then that grabbed the cash and two mobile phones before escaping the scene in the November 17 incident, police said.
