Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has won praise from many Kenyans after gifting a brand-new multi-million-shilling vehicle to his longtime friend, Archbishop Paul Stephen Gathuo, in a gesture that celebrated more than two decades of friendship and shared commitment to community service.
The outspoken lawmaker shared the heartwarming moment on his social media pages, revealing that the gift was meant to support the archbishop’s ministry work and acknowledge the crucial role he has played in promoting peace and unity in Burnt Forest and the larger Uasin Gishu region.

In his Facebook post, Sudi described Archbishop Gathuo as more than just a church leader, saying their friendship has remained strong for over 20 years.
“Today I had the honour of gifting a car to my good friend and brother, Archbishop Paul Stephen Gathuo of Israel Assemblies of God, Kondoo Local Church, Burnt Forest, Uasin Gishu County. For over 20 years our friendship has stood the test of time. Archbishop Gathuo has been more than a church leader, he’s been a true peace ambassador in Burnt Forest, a voice that brings people together. This gift will ease his work and help him reach more souls as he continues serving in ministry,” Sudi wrote on Facebook.
Photos shared online showed the bishop receiving the vehicle in a joyful ceremony attended by church members, friends, and supporters who applauded the gesture.
Archbishop Paul Stephen Gathuo is a respected religious leader in the North Rift region and has been actively involved in peace-building initiatives for many years.
Burnt Forest, where he ministers, was one of the areas heavily affected by post-election violence in previous years, making the role of religious leaders in reconciliation efforts particularly significant.
Over the years, Gathuo has consistently used his platform to preach peace, unity, and coexistence among communities.
He has also been involved in church development projects and national religious initiatives.
Earlier this year, the archbishop urged politicians to shun divisive rhetoric and embrace peaceful campaigns ahead of the country’s next electoral cycle.
The MP’s latest act of generosity adds to a series of church-related donations and support initiatives he has undertaken across the country.
The legislator has frequently emphasized the importance of supporting religious institutions, arguing that churches play a vital role in shaping moral values and fostering national cohesion.
The gift quickly attracted reactions on social media, with many Kenyans praising the MP for recognizing a spiritual leader who has dedicated his life to serving the community.
Others described the gesture as a powerful symbol of loyalty and appreciation, noting that friendships lasting more than two decades are rare in modern society.

Supporters also commended Archbishop Gathuo for his commitment to ministry and peace-building efforts, saying the vehicle would enhance his mobility as he continues carrying out pastoral work across different regions.
The touching moment served as a reminder of the strong relationship that often exists between political and religious leaders in Kenya, particularly when it comes to community development, conflict resolution, and social transformation.
As congratulatory messages continued to pour in, many wished Archbishop Gathuo success in his ministry, while applauding Sudi for honouring a friendship that has endured for more than 20 years.
