A battery of lawyers representing Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs have pleaded with a U.S. judge to reduce the sentence period for the rapper, citing inhumane conditions in prison.
Their plea comes months after he was convicted of prostitution-related offenses but acquitted on more serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
According to court documents filed on late Monday, September 22, 2025, Diddy’s lawyers noted that a sentence of not more than 14 months was enough for the rap mogul.
His legal team insisted that there is no need to keep him incarcerated and away from his 84-year-old mother and seven children.

Nairobi News understands Diddy has been behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since his arrest in September, 16, 2024, and would be credited for the time spent in holding.
If his lawyers request is granted then Diddy would be a free man before the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday.
In their argument, the music business mogul’s lawyers noted that their client has been ‘incident free’ in jail and even became sober for the first time in a quarter -century.
“Mr. Combs is an extraordinary person who has made monumental professional and personal contributions throughout his 55 years. He recognises the consequences his actions have had for himself and his family. It is time for Mr. Combs to go home” the lawyers said.
A request for a comment from the U.S. Attorney’s office in Manhattan on Tuesday, September 23, over the request was not immediately responded to.
U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian is set to sentence P Diddy on October 3, 2025, in Manhattan federal court.
Prosecutors are expected to recommend a sentence by September 29, 2025, and are holding that a “substantial” prison term is warranted.
Diddy’s lawyers said federal probation officers, who help judges craft sentences, believe federal guidelines recommend a 5-3/4-year to 7-1/4-year sentence.
Jurors found the superstar guilty in July, 2025, on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution under a law known as the Mann Act.
He had pleaded not guilty and is expected to appeal his conviction.

During the two-month trial, prosecutors said the former rapper coerced two former girlfriends into days-long, drug-fueled sex marathons known as “Freak Offs” with male prostitutes.
Both women, singer Casandra Ventura, known as Cassie, and a woman known by the pseudonym Jane testified that the star physically attacked them and threatened to cut off financial support if they resisted his sexual encounters.
However, his lawyers argued there was no direct link between what they called domestic violence and the women’s participation in the Freak Offs.
They also insisted that Ventura and Jane consented to the encounters because they loved Diddy and wanted to make him happy.
