Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya was physically confronted and escorted out of Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday during the Kenya vs Gabon World Cup qualifier match.

Salasya, who was wearing an AFC Leopards jersey, got into an altercation with a group of fans inside the stadium.

Videos circulating online show the MP in a scuffle with the crowd, after which he was escorted to the parking area by his security detail, who shielded him from further confrontation.

According to reports, the altercation escalated when some fans accused Salasya of disrespecting ODM party leader Raila Odinga.

“Mumias East MP Peter Salasya was forcefully ejected from Nyayo Stadium after a confrontation with a group of fans.

The situation escalated, with accusations of disrespecting Raila Odinga,” said Cyprian Nyakundi on social media.

In a video obtained by Newsmoto.co.ke, police officers can be seen stepping in to ensure Salasya’s safety as he was rushed to his vehicle to avoid further conflict.

Salasya has been outspoken about the political deal between Raila Odinga and President William Ruto, accusing Odinga of betraying the Gen-Z generation, who have been vocal in their opposition to the current administration.
