Detectives have arrested three suspects and recovered a loaded firearm in Laare, Igembe, following an intelligence-led operation targeting criminal networks in the area.
In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the suspects—James Chege, Mitiliano Muriuki, and Lawrence Mwilaria—were apprehended during a coordinated raid conducted by officers from DCI Laare and Laare Police Station.
“The suspects were arrested in a well-coordinated operation aimed at dismantling criminal activity that has disrupted security in Igembe,” detectives said.
Authorities believe the trio is linked to a series of robbery incidents reported in the region.
During the operation, officers conducted a search at a residence where they recovered a Beretta 1934 Corto pistol loaded with four rounds of ammunition.
“The firearm was carefully concealed בתוך the house, indicating an attempt to evade detection,” the DCI noted.
The suspects are currently in custody and are assisting investigators with ongoing inquiries.
“The success of this operation reflects our continued efforts to protect lives and property. All individuals involved in crime will be pursued and brought to justice,” the agency stated.

The latest arrests underscore heightened security operations in the region as authorities intensify efforts to curb rising criminal activities.
