Police officers in Turbo Sub-County have arrested two suspects and confiscated a large consignment of narcotics following a successful operation targeting drug trafficking in the region.
Acting on a tip-off from members of the public, officers from Baharini Police Station intercepted a trailer believed to be transporting cannabis from Busia to Eldoret City.
The operation took place earlier today in the Milimani area of Turbo, where officers ambushed a Sino Truck bearing registration number KDL 433F/0736. The vehicle had three occupants on board.
Upon being flagged down, the occupants attempted to flee, but two were quickly apprehended while the third escaped and remains at large.
A thorough search of the trailer revealed ten sacks filled with green, dried plant material suspected to be cannabis sativa.
The consignment was seized as evidence and secured for further analysis and use in forthcoming legal proceedings.
The two suspects are currently in police custody undergoing processing and will be arraigned once investigations are complete.
Meanwhile, the impounded trailer has been taken to Baharini Police Station for further inspection.
In a statement, the National Police Service commended members of the public for their timely information, which led to the successful interception.
“We commend the community for their vigilance and cooperation. Such partnerships are vital in disrupting criminal networks, especially those involved in trafficking dangerous drugs,” the police said.
Authorities continue to urge residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activity through available hotlines or at the nearest police station.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking and protecting communities from the harmful effects of narcotics.

In a related operation, a multi-agency security team comprising officers from Archers Post Police Station, National Police Reservists (NPR), and rangers from the Samburu National Reserve (SNR) acted on intelligence received on July 30, 2025, about a suspicious white Toyota Probox with an unknown registration number traveling from Isiolo towards Marsabit.
Further reports indicated that the vehicle had been seen near the Waso Nyiro River, where armed individuals were offloading luggage.
The team moved swiftly to the location and spotted four suspects pushing luggage towards the riverside.
Upon seeing the officers, the suspects opened fire, prompting an exchange of gunfire. The suspects escaped into the bush.
A search of the scene recovered two green sacks containing several yellow and grey cello-taped bundles suspected to be cannabis sativa.
The consignment weighed 62.65 kilograms, with an estimated street value of shs. 1,879,500.
The narcotics have been secured as exhibits pending further police action, while efforts continue to track and apprehend the suspects.
The National Police Service appeals to anyone with information about the suspects to report to the nearest police station or security agency.
