A police officer reported losing his firearm after allegedly being assaulted and robbed by a gang in Garissa Town, Tana River County.
The incident was reported by a police officer attached to the Sub-County Criminal Investigations Office (SCCIO) in Bangale.
He was allegedly accosted by a group of four men at Bulla Sheikh Makaburini in Garissa at about 10pm on September 29.
The officer told police that the attackers assaulted him and stole his assigned firearm, a mobile phone and Sh700.
The firearm was reported missing together with its ammunition.
Senior police officers from Garissa and Bangale visited the victim at Garissa County Hospital, where he was receiving treatment.
Police said the officer had no visible injuries but was undergoing further medical assessment.
Police have launched a search for the missing firearm and investigations into the alleged robbery.
And two men were arrested in Muthua area of Dagoretti, Nairobi, after police raided a premises allegedly being used to manufacture suspected counterfeit juice.
Police said the operation was mounted on Wednesday, September 30, after a member of the public reported a shop suspected of manufacturing contraband juice.
Officers led by the Kabete Sub-Station Police mounted an operation in the area and found the two allegedly manufacturing suspected counterfeit Top Quencher juice.
A search of the premises led to the recovery of about 1,400 bottles of 200ml and 300ml suspected Top Quencher juice, 56 cartons of empty 200ml bottles, five packets of bottle tops and assorted materials believed to have been used in the operation.
Police also recovered two blue drums, three basins containing different-coloured substances, office glue, rubber stamps and ink, brown substances packed in 50-gram portions, assorted Top Quencher stickers and a whitish substance packed in a polythene bag.
Among the items recovered were an expired certificate relating to the use of the Standardization Mark granted to Top Quencher, a medical examination certificate, muslin cloth and three bottles containing a colourless substance.
The scene was documented and the two suspects placed in police custody.
The recovered items were preserved as exhibits as police investigations into the suspected counterfeit juice operation continue.
