President William Ruto of Kenya attended the inauguration ceremony of Ghana’s newly re-elected President, John Dramani Mahama, in Accra.
The event marked a significant milestone in Ghana’s political landscape as Mahama assumed office for his second term following a historic election.
President Ruto took the opportunity to offer his heartfelt congratulations to President Mahama, commending Ghana’s democratic process.
“I extend my warm congratulations to President John Dramani Mahama as he assumes office for his second term,” said Ruto.
“His leadership showcases Ghana’s strength as a beacon of democracy and stability in Africa.”
While in Ghana for the inauguration, President Ruto emphasized the importance of collaboration between Kenya and Ghana, particularly in trade, infrastructure, and regional security.

“Kenya remains committed to strengthening its ties with Ghana,” Ruto remarked.
“We are particularly focused on enhancing our cooperation in areas such as trade, infrastructure development, and regional security for the mutual benefit of our people.”
Mahama, who previously served as president from 2012 to 2016, won the highly contested elections with a substantial mandate, further cementing Ghana’s position as a stable democracy in West Africa.
“This victory is a testament to Ghana’s evolving democracy and the peaceful transition of power, which we deeply commend,” said Ruto.
As a key figure in the African Union, President Ruto reiterated Kenya’s full support for President Mahama’s agenda.
“We stand with President Mahama and will continue to support his leadership and vision for a stronger and united Africa,” Ruto stated.
“In this time of global challenges, including the economic recovery post-pandemic, African unity is more important than ever.”
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries from across Africa, signaling the event’s importance in fostering stronger relations between nations on the continent.
As Kenya and Ghana move forward with building their diplomatic ties, this inauguration marks a new chapter of deeper cooperation between the two nations.
