Ruto launches Nyota start-up fund in Kisii, pledges real action for Youth Empowerment


President William Ruto on Friday unveiled the Nyota Start-Up Capital Programme in Kisii County, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to turning youth empowerment from rhetoric into tangible results.

Speaking during the launch, the President said the government was moving decisively from words to action by translating policy promises into real opportunities for young people across the country.

He noted that the Nyota programme goes beyond the provision of capital, focusing on building sustainable and reliable pathways to employment and entrepreneurship.

Ruto highlighted targeted interventions in labour mobility, the digital and creative economy, and the Affordable Housing Programme as key pillars in expanding opportunities for the youth.

He assured young Kenyans that the government would remain steadfast in its mission, vowing not to relent until every youth is given a fair chance to unlock, develop, and realise their full potential.

During the Kisii event, the President officially launched the disbursement of Nyota Start-Up Capital for Nyamira, Migori, and Kisii counties, with 8,820 young entrepreneurs receiving their first tranche of funding—marking the start of their entrepreneurial journeys and a renewed push for youth-led economic growth.
