Sports commentator Arap Uria rendered homeless as his house floods after heavy downpour

Popular Kenyan sports commentator Arap Uria is counting losses after his Nairobi home was flooded following the heavy downpour that battered parts of the country on Friday, March 6.

The intense rains, which caused widespread flooding across the capital, left at least 11 people dead while dozens of families were displaced as water swept through residential estates and major roads.

Rescue teams and emergency responders were deployed in several affected areas as the city grappled with the aftermath of the floods.

Among those affected was Arap Uria, who resides in Nairobi.

The sports commentator shared on social media that his house was overwhelmed by floodwaters during the storm, leaving him and his friends scrambling to salvage what they could from the rising water.

In a video posted online, Uria is seen inside the flooded house alongside several friends trying to rescue his household items.

The water had risen to their waist level, clearly showing the extent of the flooding inside the residence.

Furniture, household electronics and other belongings could be seen soaked in water, with some items floating as the group attempted to move them to safety.

The situation left the house virtually uninhabitable, forcing Uria to seek alternative shelter as he assessed the damage.

The commentator lamented the destruction caused by the floods, noting that most of his household items had been rendered wet by the water that flooded the house.

His video quickly spread across social media platforms, drawing sympathy from fans and fellow Kenyans who flooded the comment section with messages of support and encouragement.

Many followers expressed relief that he was safe despite the incident, with others sharing their own experiences of being affected by the same downpour in different parts of Nairobi.

Authorities warned that the death toll could rise as search and rescue teams continued operations in affected areas.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has since warned that more rainfall could continue in parts of Nairobi and neighboring counties, urging residents in flood-prone areas to remain vigilant as the long rains season intensifies.

For Uria and many other residents affected by the floods, the priority now remains recovering from the losses and rebuilding after the devastating downpour.
