Three including an infant drown in separate incidents in Nairobi, Eldama Ravine and Malindi


Three people who included a seven-month-old minor drowned in separate incidents reported to police.

The other victim included a woman, police said.

The first incident happened in Huruma, Nairobi where a seven-month-old baby drowned in a bucket.

The baby boy was being washed in a bucket full of water when he drowned. The mother of the child told police she had left him at a home of a caretaker when the incident happened.

The child was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The mother had gone to work and was called and informed about the incident. She was devastated.

Police said they are investigating the incident.

In a separate incident, a boy aged 15 was found drowned in the Sumuko semi dam in Kaburwa, Koibatek, Eldama Ravine, Baringo County.

The victim was a grade eight pupil at Jkmoi primary school in the area. It is not clear how the boy drowned, police said adding they were investigating the same.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

In Shakahola, Langobaya, Malindi, Kilifi County, the body of a 21-year-old woman was found floating on Kwa Chui Dam.

She was identified as Nuru Mwamure, police said.

Her husband told police she had left their house for Shakahola shopping center but failed to return.

A search was staged leading to the discovery of the body at the dam.

She had no visible injuries but blood was oozing from her nose, police said they moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Police said they were investigating to establish if she was killed and dumped in the dam.

Elsewhere in Kapenguria, West Pokot County, a woman identified as Eliza Cheposowon died after being assaulted in the village.

Police said they were looking for the assailant in the incident. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Police said cases of female assault and abuse have been on the rise amid efforts to solve them.

The hunt on the assailant continued on Tuesday.
