Suba South MP Millie Odhiambo has boldly come to the defence of the late Raila Odinga’s daughter, Winnie Odinga, just hours after she was subjected to a scathing attack by vocal Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai.
Millie openly called out Alai for targeting Winnie, issuing a stern warning over what she described as his inconsiderate and cold remarks directed at the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP.
Her reaction followed Alai’s earlier social media posts in which he criticised Winnie over her stance on the proposed broad-based government.
Nairobi News understands that while speaking in Mombasa on Friday, November 14, 2025, Winnie vehemently condemned a faction within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party, accusing unnamed individuals of attempting to “sell out” the party.

She faulted part of the ODM leadership for allegedly fuelling internal discord, warning that she would not stand by and watch the party be “auctioned to the highest bidder.”
Winnie’s remarks appeared to agitate Alai, who swiftly hit back at her on Saturday, November 15, arguing that she lacked the authority to determine ODM’s future direction following her father’s demise.
According to the Kileleshwa MCA, being the late party leader’s daughter does not automatically give her the mandate to advise or guide the movement.
In a swift rejoinder, Millie Odhiambo rose to Winnie’s defence, chastising Alai for what she termed as an attack on a grieving woman.
Speaking during the ODM@20 celebrations in Mombasa, Millie accused him of using women as easy targets in political confrontations.
She vowed to shield Winnie from individuals who, in her view, are intolerant of differing opinions, and reaffirmed her commitment to defending her honour.
“I would like to warn someone who attacked Winnie Odinga. As a women’s defender, I want to say this: whether it is Alai or whatever the name is, I have seen he likes harassing women. But where Millie Odhiambo is, we will deal with you head-on. Where Winnie Odinga is concerned, that is the heart of Baba, and it is against the Luo culture to attack a person who is still mourning. Right now, Winnie has been in tears after seeing Baba’s photo, and you are attacking her. I want to tell you, you attack Winnie Odinga, you attack Millie and the ODM women,” she said.
Millie did not stop there. She later took to social media, sharply reprimanding Alai in a strongly worded post.
“Robert Alai, you are used to attacking women and getting away with it. Winnie Odinga did not attack Governor Gladys Wanga, so quit trying to pit one against the other. You are in fact the one implicitly attacking Wanga. I can assure you, my brother, I can be equally petty when it comes to defending women. It is exactly one month since Winnie lost her dad. It is uncouth and uncultured to attack her, but then again, why would I expect you to understand? Bring it on. I am waiting,” she wrote.

Her sentiments drew widespread support from Kenyans, particularly ODM diehards, who urged Alai to stop attacking Winnie.
Many argued that he should exercise restraint and sensitivity, noting that Winnie is still in mourning.
Well, Alai could not let Millie Odhiambo’s reprimand slide as he came back with a response, defending his previous action.
In a Facebook post sighted by this writer, Alai wrote;
“Millie Odhiambo Tafuta kazi ingine.
Winnie Odinga said party leadership is sleeping with Ruto in bedrooms to sell the party.
Who is sleeping with Ruto? Men or women?
In fact, Winnie Odinga was attacking Governor Gladys Wanga who is the only woman at the top leadership of the party.
How does she attack a fellow woman and when responded to then she suddenly runs to your gender.
I am happy the message reached home and the chief idler of the party has decided to respond.”
