Woman found dead with signs of strangulation in Bomet


Police in Bomet are investigating the death of a 25-year-old woman whose body was found in a house in Chebulu Village, Sotik Sub-County, with injuries suggesting she may have been assaulted and strangled.

The deceased, identified as Nimo Muhamud, had reportedly been living with her boyfriend at the home of his father, who currently resides in Nairobi.

According to police, Muhamud had moved into the compound about three weeks ago.

Neighbours reportedly told police that the man had been assaulting the woman.

At about midnight, the man allegedly informed his uncle that his wife was lying in bed and was not breathing.

When the uncle opened the door to check on her, he allegedly fled from the compound and disappeared.

The uncle subsequently contacted the village elder, and the matter was reported to police the following morning.

Police visited the scene and found Muhamud’s lifeless body lying on a bed, partially dressed.

Police said a physical examination revealed multiple wounds on her buttocks, a swollen foot, a fractured arm that had been placed in a plaster and marks around the neck consistent with strangulation.

Investigators also recovered a treatment note from Kapkatet Sub-County Hospital dated September 19, 2026, as well as a pair of white slippers stained with blood.

The scene was processed by investigators before the body was removed and taken to Kapkatet Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending autopsy.

Police are pursuing the suspect, who remains at large, as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

And a 10-year-old boy was found dead in a muddy swamp within his family’s farm in Gucha South Sub-County, Kisii County.

The deceased was a male juvenile from Boige Village, Nyakorere Sub-Location, Marongo Location.

Police officers visited the scene and found the boy’s body lying face-down and partially submerged in muddy swamp water.

According to investigators, the boy had a medical history of epilepsy dating back to childhood.

He was last seen alive at about 5pm on October 3 within his home, which is located approximately 80 meters from where his body was found.

Police processed and documented the scene before removing the body, which had no visible injuries.

The body was taken to Tabaka Mission Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy to establish the cause of death.
