Police in Busia County are investigating the death of an unidentified man whose body was found floating along the banks of River Sio in Musoma area, Nambale Sub-County.
The body, believed to be that of a man aged between 40 and 50 years, was discovered on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
Police visited the scene and found the body floating along the riverbank.
Police processed the scene before the body was removed and taken to Busia County Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending identification.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death are ongoing.
Elsewhere, a 69-year-old man drowned in River Gakayu in Kandara, Murang’a County, in an incident police suspect may have been linked to an epileptic seizure.
The deceased was identified as George Maina Miiri, a resident of Maberi Village.
His body was discovered floating in the river at about 10am on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
Police officers visited the scene after the body had been retrieved and found lying on the riverbank.
Preliminary investigations established that Miiri had a known history of epilepsy.
Police suspect that he may have suffered an epileptic seizure while cutting fodder for his livestock, causing him to lose balance and fall into the river, where he drowned.
Investigators further suspect that no one was nearby to assist him at the time of the incident.
The scene was documented and processed before the body was removed and taken to Gaichanjiru Mission Hospital Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
