A woman was violently robbed of her luxury vehicle after suspected criminals staged a rear-end collision along the Thika-Garissa Road in Kiambu County.
The victim told investigators that she was driving her grey Mercedes-Benz at around 8pm near the Kilimambogo area on May 22 night when another vehicle, described as a Toyota Probox, rammed into her car from behind as both vehicles headed towards Matuu.
Police said the woman said she stopped and stepped out to inspect the damage when two men emerged from the Probox and attacked her.
The assailants allegedly assaulted her before throwing her into a nearby thicket.
The suspects then commandeered the Mercedes-Benz and fled towards Matuu, with the Probox escorting the stolen vehicle.
The victim suffered bruises on her face and hands as well as a swollen right eye during the attack.
Police have since circulated details of the stolen vehicle and launched investigations as efforts to trace the suspects and recover the car continue.
And police in Kiambu are investigating a suspected shooting incident after a motorist discovered what appeared to be a bullet hole in his vehicle hours after driving along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.
The incident was reported on Friday evening by a businessman and a resident of Mugumo.
He told police that he had been travelling from Westlands to his home in Mugumo aboard his Toyota Land Cruiser V8 when he heard a loud sound while driving along the climbing lane from the Shooting Range area towards Gitamaiyu.
He initially believed the sound resembled an electrical short circuit and continued with his journey.
However, at around 1pm on Saturday while opening the passenger door of the vehicle, he noticed a hole on the door panel that resembled a bullet impact.
Police officers from Kiambu Police Station visited the scene and conducted a search, but no projectile or other evidence was recovered from the vehicle. Police also noted that there was no apparent exit hole.
The vehicle was detained for ballistic examination as investigations into the suspected shooting continue.
