body of unidentified man recovered from kisii water canal


Police in Sameta Sub-county, Kisii County, are investigating the death of an unidentified man whose body was found floating in a water canal on Tuesday morning.

According to police, the incident was reported after authorities received information that a body was floating in the Nyakwana Water Canal at Makoro Village in Mokwerero Location.

The deceased is an unknown male adult estimated to be between 50 and 55 years old. Police said the body had no visible physical injuries.

The scene was documented before the body was moved to the Gucha Level 4 Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it awaits identification and a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

And police in Mombasa are investigating a suspected murder after the body of a 19-year-old man was discovered along the shores of the Indian Ocean in the Old Town area.

Police said the incident was reported at about 11:40 a.m. on Tuesday by Old Town Assistant Chief Ali Biluli, who alerted authorities after the body was spotted near Mlango wa Papa in Mji wa Kale.

A police team responded to the scene and found the lifeless body of the deceased, who was identified only as Mustafa, a Digo male aged about 19 years.

Police said the deceased had visible injuries to the face, with blood oozing from the mouth and nose, raising suspicion of foul play.

Crime scene investigators processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing.

Meanwhile, a 21-year-old man drowned while watering cattle at River Kandaya in Rangwe Sub-county, Homa Bay County.

According to police, the incident was reported on Tuesday after the deceased’s brother informed officers that Christopher Ochieng Ogola had taken a herd of cattle to the river but failed to return home.

The brother later received information from a neighbour that Christopher had drowned in the river.

Police officers visited and documented the scene.

Preliminary investigations established that Christopher had a history of epilepsy before his death. Police said an examination of the body at the scene revealed no visible physical injuries.

The body was moved to the Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.
