A Lexus vehicle was on Sunday evening destroyed by fire along the Nairobi Expressway near the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) entrance.
The incident occurred on August 23, 2026, as the vehicle was travelling towards City Cabanas.
Police said the incident was reported by a member of the public through the Nairobi Area Control Room, prompting officers from Mombasa Road Police Station and the Expressway Command Centre to respond.
The vehicle was being driven by a woman at the time of the incident.
She escaped unhurt. Police said they are yet to establish the cause of the fire.
A team from the Nairobi City County Fire Brigade arrived at the scene and managed to contain the fire.
Police said no injuries were reported in the incident.
The cause of the fire had not been established by the time of reporting.
The wreckage of the vehicle was towed to Mombasa Road Police Station, where it was being held pending further police action and investigations.
The incident disrupted traffic flow on the busy road before it was cleared.
