A man believed to be aged about 50 died after falling from the staircase of a four-storey building in Umoja II, Nairobi.
The incident occurred at about 11.45pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, after residents reportedly heard screams coming from the building, police said.
The man, only identified as Kariuki, was a resident of the fourth floor and worked at a jua kali business in Umoja II.
A neighbour living on the third floor reportedly went outside after hearing screams and found Kariuki on the ground, having apparently fallen down the staircase from the fourth floor.
Neighbours suspected that he may have missed a step, possibly after drinking alcohol, causing him to lose his balance and fall.
They rushed him to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police officers who visited the scene found the man’s clothes soaked in blood and multiple injuries on his body, which were believed to have been caused by the fall.
The scene was processed by Crime Scene Investigation officers from Buruburu, while the body was moved to the hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination and identification by his family.
Police said no note or other indication of foul play was found at the scene as investigations continued into the circumstances of the death.
And a 42-year-old man died after sustaining a serious injury allegedly caused by a poisoned arrow along the Kerio River in Kerio Valley.
The man, identified as Mica Kisang, a resident of Sagat village in the area, was taken to Mogil Health Centre on Tuesday evening after he was reportedly found unconscious in the Kerio River area.
A boda boda rider found Kisang lying unconscious and took him to the health facility before leaving without giving his details.
Kisang had sustained a serious injury to his right hip, which police suspect may have been caused by a poisoned arrow.
He later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the facility.
Police officers visited and processed the scenes as investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death began.
The body was moved to Tunyo Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
