Akothee Claps Back At Haters Criticising Her Skimpy Outfit During Devolution Conference


Controversial Kenyan songstress Akothee is at it again, this time slamming her critics who recently mauled her over her dress code.

Speaking in an Instagram video that has fast gone viral, the mother of five asked haters to leave her alone as she is not anyone’s role model.

In the video, Akothee wondered why people were irked by her dress code during the official opening of the 2025 Devolution Conference held at Home Bay School in Homa-bay County on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Nairobi News understands the musician was among the invited guest at the launch and was given an opportunity to hit the stage and say ‘hi’ to guests.

Madam Boss stole the spotlight at the Devolution Conference, captivating attendees with her bold dance moves and daring fashion sense.

Dressed in a skimpy outfit that drew both admiration and surprise, Akothee confidently took to the dancefloor, leaving some governors visibly stunned and at a loss for words.

The star had rocked black leggings and a short trench coat.

Looking at videos and photos from the event, Akothee left nothing to the imagination.

Her dress code sparked debates online with countless people calling her out for being disrespectful.

According to her critics, she is too old to donn such outfits especially to a high-stake government function.

Well, in her usual demeanor Akothee came out to slam her haters barely 24 hours after the incident.

The singer posted a video of herself in her car while bashing her critics.

She categorically stated that she can wear and do whatever she wants because she is nobody’s role model.

Akothee reiterate that all her enemies can go to hell.

In her rant, she also addressed media entities which have been on her case requesting for interviews with her following the incident.

“You are calling me to come to your shows. I will come and open my legs again and you will not do anything. I have told you, I am not a role model to anyone. Even my children can only pick what they want to pick from me. Otherwise, all of you can go to hell,” Akothee said.

Her quick rejoinder came in the midst of a heated public uproar.

Countless netizens had taken to social media to reprimand her for lacking manners and exposing acres of skin at an official government event.

This, however, did not come as a surprise many since Akothee has over the years been taunting netizens with her fashion sense.

Despite being trolled severally over the same, the singer has never backed down.
