Betty Bayo’s family sets Sh5 million budget for her funeral

The family, friends, and fans of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo have begun preparations for her final send-off following her sudden death on Monday, November 10, 2025.

As is customary with major funerals, Betty’s family and the burial committee have drawn up a detailed budget to cover all funeral expenses.

According to information obtained by Nairobi News, the committee has set the funeral budget at Sh5 million, an amount they believe will ensure the beloved musician receives a befitting farewell.

During a mourning service held on the evening of Tuesday, November 11, fellow gospel artiste Ben Githae urged mourners and well-wishers to contribute towards the expenses, revealing that the target budget stands at Sh5 million.

The appeal has since gained traction online, with countless fans and supporters sending in contributions as early as Wednesday, November 12.

However, key details about Betty Bayo’s burial date and specific funeral arrangements are yet to be publicly announced.

Earlier reports by Nairobi News indicated that the “11th Hour” hitmaker passed away after a long battle with leukaemia, which had severely affected her health in her final days.

According to her close friend Shiru wa GP, Betty’s condition worsened rapidly.

On the night she fell critically ill, she began bleeding while in bed and had to walk to her car and honk to alert neighbours for help.

She was rushed to AAR Hospital, but her health continued to deteriorate.

Doctors later confirmed that Betty had suffered a stroke on one side due to a blood clot in her brain.
