Not all rich people use their wealth on their families – this has been brought to light by one of the world’s richest men, Elon Musk’s daughter Vivian Wilson.
Elon Musk’s estranged daughter recently disclosed that she is broke after publicly cutting ties with her rich father.
Speaking during an interview with The Cut on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, Vivian revealed that she is so broke that she opted to living with three roommates, a move she termed ‘cheaper’.
“People assume I have a lot of money. I don’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars at my disposal,” the 21-year-old aspiring model said.
Vivian noted that both her parents are rich but she is disabled financially.
“My mom is rich, right? But obviously the other one (Musk) is unimaginable degrees of wealthy,” she stated.
According to Musk’s transgender daughter, she has no desire or ambition to be super rich, holding that she is comfortable with her current situation.
“I don’t have a desire to be super rich,” Vivian said.
She insisted that she is okay as long as she can afford the very basic human basic needs like food, shelter, some expendable income and genuine friends surrounding her.
“I can afford food. I have friends, a shelter, and some expendable income, which is nice and much more fortunate than most people my age in Los Angeles,”she said.
Rift Between Elon And Daughter Vivian
Wilson, who is the eldest of Musk’s 14 children infamously cut ties with her Tesla founder dad back in 2022 when she filed a petition to change her gender and name.
Since then, Wilson has repeatedly called out the tech mogul on social media, calling him a “pathetic man-child” who has not been receptive of her gender.

On his part, Musk, through a past interview claimed that Wilson was ‘killed by the woke mind virus’ and that he was ‘tricked’ into letting her transition at the tender age 16.
Still, Wilson seized on the very public fallout with her father, telling an American magazine that the most stereotypical thing about her was ‘Daddy issues’.
It is important to note that Elon Musk is worth an estimated $413 billion, making him one of the top 100 richest people in the world.
