Reposts on TikTok allow users to share other people’s videos with their followers, helping content reach a wider audience. While this feature can be useful for boosting engagement, not everyone wants their videos to be reposted or to see reposted content in their feed. Fortunately, TikTok provides a way to control this feature.
Repost Feature
TikTok’s repost button lets users share someone else’s video without having to download or re-upload it. When you repost a video, it appears on your followers’ “For You” page tagged as “Reposted by [your username],” giving the original creator credit. While it can help support other creators, you may want to turn it off for privacy reasons or to keep your feed more personalized.
Turning Off Reposts on TikTok
If you want to stop other people from reposting your content, or if you don’t want to accidentally repost other people’s videos, you can disable the feature within the app settings.
Start by opening the TikTok app and going to your profile. Tap the menu icon, usually represented by three horizontal lines or dots in the top right corner, and select “Settings and privacy.” Scroll down to find the “Privacy” section.

Under the privacy settings, tap on “Reposts.” Here, you’ll see a toggle switch labeled “Allow others to repost your videos.” If this is turned on, it means others can repost your videos. To disable this, simply tap the switch to turn it off. Once off, your videos will no longer be available for reposting by other users.
Managing Repost Activity
Even after disabling reposts, you may still see reposted content in your feed if others have reposted before you changed the settings. You can manage what you see by using the “Not Interested” option on videos. Press and hold on any video and tap “Not Interested” to help the algorithm understand your preferences.
If you want to delete a video you previously reposted, go to your profile, tap the share/repost icon on that video, and select “Remove repost.” This will stop the video from showing up as your repost on others’ feeds.
