The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced that the results for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) will be made available to the public on Monday, January 6, 2025.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Education on January 4, Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos urged parents and guardians of Grade 6 learners to check the results as soon as the portal becomes active.
“The Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) learner reports will be accessible on school portals starting from the week of January 6, 2025,” the statement read.
The KPSEA, which assesses Grade 6 students, is a key part of Kenya’s competency-based curriculum (CBC) and marks an important transition in the educational journey of learners as they move from primary to secondary education.
The first cohort of CBC students will proceed to Grade 9 as planned in the coming term.
In addition, the Ministry of Education has confirmed that the results for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will be released within the first two weeks of January.
The Ministry also announced that the first term of 2025 will run for 13 weeks, with a five-day midterm break.
Schools across the country are scheduled to reopen on Monday, January 6, 2025.
This year, the KPSEA saw a total of 1,313,913 candidates from 35,573 examination centers nationwide.
The Ministry emphasized its commitment to facilitating a smooth transition for all learners as they advance through the education system.
In support of this transition, the government has been constructing 16,000 new classrooms across the country, with 93% of the work already completed.
For areas where construction is still ongoing, education officers and school heads have been instructed to implement temporary solutions to ensure the safety of all students.
The Ministry also reported that a total of 9,926,618 textbooks have been distributed to schools, with the final deliveries expected by January 6, 2025, to support uninterrupted academic progress.
Regarding funding, the government will release sh 48.3 billion in capitation for the term.
In the second term, schools will receive 30% of the capitation, with the remaining 20% to be disbursed in the third term.
