Man drugged, robbed of electronics and valuables by two women in Sagana


A resident of Sagana town is counting losses after he was allegedly drugged and robbed by two women who spent the night at his apartment in Kirinyaga County.

According to the police, the victim said the incident began on the evening of June 1 while he was enjoying refreshments at Bobbs Bar and Restaurant along the Sagana–Nairobi Highway.

The man told police that he was joined by two women who were physically known to him. At around 10:30 p.m., the trio reportedly left the establishment and proceeded to his residence at Sprout Apartments, where he lives alone.

The victim stated that they prepared supper together, continued drinking and later went to sleep.

However, he woke up at around 9:00 a.m. the following morning feeling disoriented and realized the two women had left.

He suspected that he had been drugged after discovering that several valuable items had been stolen from his house.

Among the items reported stolen were a Samsung mobile phone valued at Sh39,000, a laptop worth Sh40,000, a DJ machine valued at Sh80,000, eight wristwatches worth Sh30,000, a CPU machine valued at Sh35,000, assorted pairs of shoes worth approximately Sh10,000, and the ignition key to his motor vehicle.

Police officers visited the scene and commenced investigations.

Authorities have launched a manhunt for the two suspects as efforts continue to recover the stolen property and establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged stupefying incident.

The victim was rushed to a hospital for medical attention.

Such incidents have been on the rise in the area amid efforts by authorities to address them. In some instances, victims were left partially impaired by the substance used in the mission.

Others were killed in the process. Police say they were pursuing good leads on the gang behind the trend and they have arrested and prosecuted some of them.

Some of the suspects have migrated from Nairobi and its environs to the area for the mission, police investigations show.
