President William Ruto has arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for the 38th Ordinary Session of the African Union’s Assembly of Heads of State and Government.
The summit, which brings together African leaders, will center on significant discussions about the African Union’s (AU) ongoing reforms and the election of the African Union Commission’s leadership.

One of the session’s main features will be the election for Chairperson of the African Union Commission, which former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is running for.

President Ruto, together with other heads of state, will engage in critical debates aimed at setting the AU’s future orientation, notably in terms of strengthening its institutions and increasing its efficacy in tackling continental concerns.

As the summit progresses, President Ruto is anticipated to play an active role in the negotiations, underlining Kenya’s commitment to support AU reforms and the leadership election process.
