The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported on Sunday that a woman was arrested by Kilimani detectives in Nairobi after allegedly drugging and robbing a Chadian national.
The suspect is awaiting arraignment.
The arrest follows a report made by the victim on November 9, in which he claimed that after a night out at two popular Nairobi nightclubs, he returned to his residence with the woman.
According to the victim, the two had consumed several alcoholic drinks together before heading to his home.
Once at the residence, the woman allegedly drugged the victim, rendering him unconscious, and stole $4,000, Sh 10,000, and two mobile phones while he lay helpless.
Following a forensic investigation, detectives tracked down the suspect to her hideout in the Hunters area within Kasarani Sub-County.
During the operation, the detectives recovered the stolen phones, which were positively identified by the victim.
In addition to the phones, investigators found several newly purchased items in the woman’s home, including a 75-inch Samsung TV worth Sh 107,000 and a Sh 55,000 cooker.
The purchase receipts indicated that these items were bought after the robbery, leading investigators to suspect they were proceeds of crime.
Further investigation revealed two national identity cards one Kenyan and one Ugandan both bearing the same photograph but different names.
This discovery has raised questions about the suspect’s true identity, which is still under investigation.
The woman is currently being held at Kilimani Police Station and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, November 18.
The DCI has warned revelers to remain vigilant, especially as the festive season approaches, citing an increase in reports of foreigners being targeted by the notorious “mchele babes” in Nairobi’s nightclubs.
