Six Arrested In Connection With Gang-Related Crimes In Kajiado County


Six suspects have been arrested in a coordinated operation by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in connection with a series of gang-related crimes that have rocked Kajiado County in recent weeks.

The operation, which was intelligence-led, began in Kagio, Kirinyaga County, where five suspects were intercepted while travelling in a vehicle bearing registration number KDK 864V.

Upon search, detectives recovered a range of suspicious items believed to be used for surveillance and criminal activity.

These included: A walkie-talkie, Multiple SIM cards, Several mobile phones, Cellotapes, Sportlights and A pair of surgical gloves.

Authorities believe the suspects were on a surveillance mission, likely scouting targets in preparation for a criminal operation.

Following up on the initial arrests, the DCI team expanded the operation to Kiserian in Kajiado County, where they apprehended a sixth suspect and uncovered a small cache of weapons and tools.

Items recovered at the scene included: An AK-47 rifle loaded with seven rounds of ammunition, Another walkie-talkie, A tear gas canister, Various housebreaking tools

The suspects arrested in Kagio were identified as:

Eliud Muiruri Ng’ang’a, David Mithamo, Peter Njoroge, Peter Muriuki Kabiru and Joseph Wahome Kinuthia.

The suspect arrested in Kiserian has been named as James Ndirangu Wanjiru.

All six individuals are currently in police custody and are undergoing further interrogation. They are expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.

Police say the arrests mark a significant breakthrough in efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating in and around Kajiado County. Investigations are ongoing, with more arrests expected as detectives pursue leads.

“The recovered items, especially the rifle and surveillance equipment, point to a well-organized criminal syndicate. We remain committed to flushing out such elements and restoring safety in the affected areas,” a senior DCI officer stated.

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities as efforts to curb gang activity in the region intensify.
