A 20-year-old man was stabbed to death following a confrontation with his brother-in-law at Ramula Shopping Centre in Gem Yala, Siaya County.
Fredrick Oyungu Ombima, aged about 20, was attacked at around 5pm on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, after an altercation with his brother-in-law.
According to police, the confrontation escalated into a fight during which the assailant allegedly stabbed Ombima with a sharp object below the chin, causing him to bleed profusely.
The suspect fled the scene immediately after the incident.
Good Samaritans rushed Ombima to Ramula Health Centre, but he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police later found his body lying on the facility’s veranda with a deep bleeding wound on the chin.
The body was subsequently moved to Yala Level IV Hospital mortuary pending autopsy, as police continued searching for the suspect.
And police in Homa Bay are investigating the death of a 57-year-old man whose body was found in a maize plantation in Rangwe Sub-County.
Joseph Ongaro Abong was found lying dead in the plantation on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
Police officers visited the scene and examined the body.
The deceased had no apparent external physical injuries, although blood was observed oozing from his nostrils.
A banana stem and a panga with a black handle were found lying beside the body.
The scene was processed and documented before the body was removed and taken to the Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.
Investigations are ongoing.
