28 Injured After Vehicle Plows Into Crowd In Hollywood; Cause Under Investigation

A chaotic scene unfolded in East Hollywood early Saturday morning after an unknown vehicle drove into a large crowd, leaving 28 people injured, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).

The incident occurred in the densely populated entertainment district near Sunset Boulevard and the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a popular area frequented by nightlife-goers and tourists.

Emergency services were alerted in the early hours, prompting a massive response from first responders. More than 100 firefighters rushed to the scene to assist the injured.

According to LAFD, three victims are in critical condition, six are reported to be in serious condition, and 19 are listed as fair. Initial reports from officials had indicated four to five people in critical condition.

While the cause of the incident has not been officially confirmed, ABC News cited a Fire Department official suggesting that the driver may have lost consciousness and accidentally plowed into the crowd gathered outside a nightclub.

However, this preliminary theory remains unverified as investigations are still ongoing.

“We are still determining the exact cause of the crash,” an LAFD spokesperson said. “Our focus right now is on the medical care of the injured and securing the area.”

The Los Angeles Police Department has not released any information regarding the identity of the driver or whether anyone has been detained in connection with the incident.

The scene of the crash has been cordoned off as investigators continue to collect evidence. Authorities are urging witnesses or anyone with information or video footage of the event to come forward.

The area around Sunset Boulevard, a well-known hotspot lined with clubs and bars, was particularly busy at the time of the incident.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame, just blocks away, attracts thousands of visitors daily and was expected to see high weekend foot traffic.

This developing story has raised renewed concerns about pedestrian safety in entertainment zones and the need for stricter late-night traffic control measures in high-density areas.

Further updates are expected as officials continue to gather details.
