How to Save a TikTok Draft to Your Camera Roll

Saving your TikTok draft to your phone’s camera roll is a smart move, especially if you want to keep a backup or share the video on other platforms. While TikTok does not automatically save drafts to your device, there’s a simple process to export them manually. Here is how to save a TikTok draft to your camera roll.

Accessing Your Drafts on TikTok

To begin, open the TikTok app and go to your profile by tapping the profile icon on the bottom right of your screen. Once there, you’ll see a “Drafts” folder that contains all videos you’ve saved but haven’t yet posted. Tap the folder to view your list of draft videos. It’s important to note that drafts are stored locally on your device, so you’ll need to use the same phone where the draft was created.

Saving the Draft Without Posting Publicly

TikTok does not offer a direct “save to camera roll” option for drafts, but there is a workaround. Select the draft you wish to save, then tap the “Next” button as if you were about to post the video. On the posting screen, under “Who can view this video,” select “Only me.” Then, scroll down and make sure the “Save to device” toggle is turned on. Once you confirm these settings, hit “Post.”

Because you selected “Only me,” the video will be uploaded to your TikTok account but will remain private — no one else will be able to see it. After the upload is complete, TikTok will automatically save the video to your phone’s camera roll in high quality, including any filters, effects, or music you added.

Deleting the Video After Saving

If you want to keep your account clean or avoid clutter in your private videos section, you can delete the posted video from your TikTok profile after confirming it’s saved in your gallery. Just go to your profile, tap the lock icon to access your private videos, find the one you saved, open it, and select the three dots to access the delete option.

Why Saving to Camera Roll Is Useful

Saving a draft to your camera roll ensures you have a copy of your content that isn’t dependent on the TikTok app. This can be helpful in case of app glitches, account issues, or if you plan to edit or repurpose the content using other video editing tools. It also allows you to share your content on other platforms like Instagram, YouTube Shorts, or WhatsApp without needing to re-record or recreate the video.
