Former Nairobi Governor Mike may have done the most during his time in office and even after but a section of Kenyans feel it is not enough.
A multitude of netizens recently picked issue with him after he questioned YouTuber, Mr Beast’s decision to drill countless boreholes in Kenya.
Nairobi News understands YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, also known as MrBeast in 2023 excited many Kenyans after building 52 wells across country to enable needy families and school-going kids to have access to clean drinking water.
In one of his Video on YouTube, Mr Beast documented how the whole project went down – moving from one village to the other.
The content creator mentioned that he built several wells, and a bridge and even donated computers to schools in Kenya.
Fast forward to Wednesday, August 6, Mike Sonko posted a photo of Mr Beast fetching water from one of the boreholes he drilled and flanked by tens of excited children, followed by a caption wondering why the government could not do the same but instead let a foreigner do their job for them.

“Do we really need foreigners to dig boreholes for us?” He wondered in his tweet.
While his post may have come from a good place, the same was not received well by countless Kenyans who took to bashing him instead.
The politician’s tweet attracted mean comments from Kenyans who asked him what he did while in leadership.
Many wondered why he was pained by Mr Beast’s move yet he did not do the same while he was the Governor of Nairobi County.
Some even went as far as asking him why he could not use his millions to drill boreholes for Nairobians.
ItsSkyt wrote;
“Yes, especially when we have millionaires like you asking questions instead of just giving the answers! Lakini sina ubaya Sonko 😆,”
“How many boreholes did you drill while you were governor?” Dan Chepta asked.
Kim Boville wrote;
“Respectfully you were once a governor…given the opportunity to practically answer the question,”
“You tell us Sonkoree,
you were in Government for many years, how many Boreholes did you dig?
What is the cost of digging one borehole?
If you answer the above then it will help answering your question,” Kijana Ya Gatimu commented.

It should be noted the attack was unwarranted owing to the fact that Sonko himself sponsored the drilling of several boreholes across the country even way after leaving office.
Through his Sonko Rescue Team, the politician not only drilled boreholes but also did a number of philanthropic projects for many Kenyans across the country and not just Nairobi.
