Court Bars Senator Lemaletian’s Estranged Partner From Contacting Or Harassing Her


Nominated Senator Hezena Lemaletian has obtained temporary court orders against her estranged partner, Musa Hussein Lenyumpa, barring him from contacting, harassing, or interfering with her in any manner.

In a ruling delivered by Magistrate Festus Terer, the court prohibited Lenyumpa from assaulting, threatening, or using the senator’s name, image, or likeness for any personal or commercial use.

He is also restrained from publishing information about her or attempting to access her residence or workplace until the matter is fully heard.

Represented by lawyer Danstan Omari, Senator Lemaletian told the court that their relationship was limited to a Samburu customary courtship, which she has since revoked.

She clarified that no dowry was paid, and that the sh100,000 Lenyumpa had given her known traditionally as ropiyani e loip was a token, not a bride price. She added that she has refunded the entire amount.

In her application, Lemaletian accused Lenyumpa of issuing death threats, physically assaulting her, and falsely claiming they are legally married.

She further alleged that he once attacked her, causing a nosebleed, and has been using social media and bloggers to spread misinformation and damage her reputation.

The senator argued that the alleged harassment has compromised her safety, invaded her privacy, and threatened her political standing.

The court scheduled an inter partes hearing for September 22, 2025, when both parties will present their arguments on whether the current protective orders should be extended or revised.
