A mob attacked and killed a suspect linked to a series of robberies in Laare, Meru County.
This happened as the suspect led police to a hideout where a suspected accomplice was hiding.
An AK47 rifle was recovered from one of the suspects in the Saturday drama. Sylvester Mwenda was attacked by a mob that accused him of being a leader of gangs terrorizing them in the area.
This happened as police tried in vain to save him. His accomplice was rescued and driven to hospital in a serious condition, police said.
Police are investigating the incident as they pursue more suspects in the matter.
In Cherengany, Trans Nzoia County, a gang attacked and robbed residents in the town of their cash and electronics.
Police said the gang robbed petrol attendants and other shop keepers of Sh115,000 and other valuables before escaping.
The gang had arrived on a motorcycle while armed with crude weapons.
In Koibatek, Baringo County, a driver transporting clinker was robbed of cash and other valuables as he attended to his lorry.
He was also injured in the attack in the Blue Gum area, police said. The victim said he was attending to a mechanical problem of a damaged pressure pipe when a gang emerged from a thicket and attacked him on Sunday night. He was admitted to a local hospital as police hunted for the attackers.
And police in Makueni joined prison officials in the hunt for a defilement suspect who escaped from the hospital bed.
The suspect identified as Enock Nzioka who had been admitted to Makueni Level IV Referral Hospital escaped as he was being taken care of by personnel from Makueni Remand Prison.
Local officials have joined in the hunt for the suspect.
