Man, 57 electrocuted while removing clothes from drying line in Kariobangi, Nairobi


A 57-year-old man died of electrocution after he touched a drying line connected to live wire in Kariobangi area, Nairobi.

Police said Vincent Ouma Ahura was electrocuted as he removed his clothes from a drying line on February 21 evening.

He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Fatal electrocution cases have been on the rise in the country with most of them being blamed on poor wiring and use of quacks for the same.

In Kiganjo, Kiambu County, the body of one Henry Kariuki Ndungu, 52 was found lying in prone position at the gate of their home, with multiple visible injuries on his forehead and neck inflicted with a sharp object

It was established that the deceased who was a casual labourer and a resident of Gatwekira left home on February 20 for work and was last seen refreshing with friends at Kibichoi trading centre.

His body was discovered the following days and the motive behind his murder was yet to be established, police said as they moved it to the mortuary for autopsy.

Elsewhere in Kakamega, one Patrick Ayuma, 50 succumbed to his injuries in hospital after he had been assaulted.

The deceased had injuries in the forehead. Police said they recovered a stone that was used in the attack and efforts to trace and arrest the assailants continued Sunday.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Meanwhile, 12 people were killed in separate accidents in the country on Saturday night, police said.

The victims included four pedestrians, three riders, four passengers and a pillion passenger.

Police said at least 17 people were injured and included six passengers, two riders, four pedestrians, four drivers and pillion passenger.

Police announced the incidents were under probe. Fatal accidents have been on the rise in separate places in the country.
