Three arrested over violent robbery along Getrimba Road in Kuria East

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kuria East, working jointly with officers from Kegonga Police Station, have arrested three suspects linked to a robbery with violence incident that occurred on the night of March 14, 2026.

According to investigators, the incident happened at around 9:00 p.m. along Getrimba Road when the victim was robbed at gunpoint while responding to a distress call from a friend.

Police said the victim was driving a Toyota Probox accompanied by his wife and another female passenger when they were accosted by a gang of about seven men riding on three motorcycles. One of the suspects was armed with a rifle.

“The attackers robbed the victim of Sh 320,000 that had been placed on the vehicle’s dashboard before fleeing the scene,” detectives said.

During the confrontation, the victim managed to disarm the gunman momentarily by pulling out the rifle’s magazine that had been pointed at him, forcing the attackers to retreat.

“He managed to pull out the rifle’s magazine during the struggle, disrupting the assailant before the gang escaped,” police stated. The magazine, which contained seven rounds of 7.62 × 39mm ammunition, was later handed over to officers as evidence.
