Man killed in suspected domestic dispute in Oyugis as police hunt for sister-in-law


Police in Oyugis, Homa Bay County launched a manhunt for a woman suspected of fatally stabbing her brother-in-law following a domestic dispute linked to a long-standing land conflict.

 

The incident occurred on the night of April 5, 2026, at around 11:05 p.m.

Officers responding to the report found the body of 37-year-old Kennedy Okoth Dola lying in the compound of his sister-in-law, who is now the prime suspect.

 

The deceased had sustained a deep stab wound on the left side of the neck.

Preliminary investigations indicate that earlier that evening, at around 8:00 p.m., the deceased had gone to the suspect’s home, where a confrontation ensued.

According to a relative, the argument escalated into threats, culminating in the fatal stabbing. The suspect is said to have fled the scene immediately after the incident.

 

Detectives processing the scene recovered a bucket stained with blood and a recently cleaned kitchen knife believed to have been used in the attack.

Police further established that the deceased and the suspect had been embroiled in a prolonged land boundary dispute, which is believed to have contributed to the fatal altercation.

 

The body was moved to Rachuonyo County Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination.

 

Authorities say efforts to trace and arrest the suspect are ongoing.

 

Elsewhere along Magadi Road, police said they are investigating the death of a man whose body was found on the roadside.

The body had bruises on the legs when it was discovered on Monday evening.

Police said they are investigating murder in the saga.

The man did not have identification documents when the body was discovered and later moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.

And a man drowned while swimming at the Indian Ocean.

Police said the victim identified as Joseph Obuya, 46 had gone for swimming sessions in Tononoka area on Monday evening when he drowned.

His body had not been retrieved by Tuesday and efforts to get it were ongoing, police said.
