Body of drowned teenager at Tudor Creek in Mombasa recovered.


The body of a 14-year-old boy who drowned while swimming in Tudor Creek in Mombasa County was retrieved.
Police said the body of Davis Kombo was recovered on Sunday morning by Coast Guard personnel assisted by local fishermen following a search operation at Tudor Creek within Jomvu Sub-county.
The teenager had reportedly drowned on May 23 while swimming in the creek.
Authorities said the body was slightly decomposed when it was retrieved but had no visible injuries.
The body was moved to the Coast General Hospital mortuary awaiting preservation and postmortem examination.
And police in Mathioya, Murang’a County are investigating the killing of a 26-year-old man who was allegedly subjected to mob justice over claims of theft.
The incident was reported on Sunday evening after the victim was found lying unresponsive near River Mugono at Karugiro area.
A team of police visited the scene and established that the deceased, identified as Stephen Maina Githinji, had allegedly been attacked by a mob.
Police said the victim was accused of stealing before the assault.
The body had visible injuries when officers arrived at the scene.
Family members positively identified the deceased before the body was moved to Mukurweini Sub-County Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing amid a surge in similar cases in separate places. Police discourage mob lynching and term it criminal. The police want suspects to be surrendered to authorities for action. Meanwhile, police in Juja, Kiambu County are investigating the death of a 32-year-old man who allegedly succumbed to injuries after an assault linked to a dispute over plastic waste.
The incident was reported at Witeithie Police Station by a witness who said his friend Patrick Ngugi had earlier informed him that he had been assaulted by a person known to him and urgently needed medical attention.
Ngugi died while undergoing treatment.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Ngugi had sought help from his sister to facilitate treatment after he was allegedly assaulted by a garbage collector during a disagreement over plastic waste at Kibute area.
The deceased reportedly complained of chest, neck and stomach pains before succumbing to the injuries while receiving treatment.
The body was later moved to General Kago Mortuary awaiting postmortem examination as investigations continue.
