Comedian Eric Omondi Reportedly Arrested by Unidentified Men

Comedian and activist Eric Omondi has reportedly been arrested by a group of unidentified men, according to a statement shared on his social media accounts.

In a Facebook post published, Omondi claimed that eight non-uniformed men apprehended him and took him to an unknown location.

“Just been arrested by a group of 8 non-uniformed men. I have no idea where we are headed,” read the post on his official Facebook page.

The circumstances surrounding the alleged arrest remain unclear, with no official communication from the police, family members, or legal representatives by the time of publication. Authorities had also not disclosed any reasons for the reported arrest.

The incident comes amid Omondi’s growing involvement in public protests and advocacy campaigns. In recent weeks, the comedian has been at the forefront of demonstrations opposing the government’s fuel price increases.

On May 18, Omondi staged a dramatic protest in Nairobi’s Central Business District, arriving with a lorry carrying empty yellow jerricans, which he proceeded to offload onto the streets as a symbolic protest against the rising cost of fuel.
