Bungoma man killed while rescuing daughter-in-law as suspect suffers mob justice

Police in Bungoma South Sub-County are investigating a murder incident that left a 68-year-old man dead and his son seriously injured after an alleged mob justice attack.

The incident occurred at Mechimeru Village in Mechimeru Location.

Authorities say Kosech Nabangi Nabiswa, 68, was fatally attacked while attempting to rescue his daughter-in-law aged 22, who was allegedly being assaulted by her husband, 26.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the man was beating his wife when the elderly man intervened.

The suspect allegedly turned on his father and repeatedly struck him on the head with a walking stick.

The victim sustained severe head injuries, collapsed and died at the scene.

Following the attack, the suspect reportedly attempted to flee but was apprehended by members of the public.

Residents then allegedly subjected him to mob justice, leaving him unconscious with serious injuries.

Police officers visited the scene and confirmed the incident. Crime scene investigators documented and processed the area.
