Police in Njoro, Nakuru County are investigating the murder of a 43-year-old man whose body was found lying in a pool of blood on a feeder road in Mutitu ‘A’ Village, Kihingo Location.
The deceased was identified as Mathenge Muturi, a resident of the area.
According to police, the incident was reported on Saturday at about 11:30 a.m., prompting officers to visit the scene.
Upon arrival, officers found Muturi’s body lying in the middle of the road with severe head injuries believed to have been inflicted using a blunt object.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased had allegedly been involved in a fight with two young men shortly before his death.
One suspect was arrested and is being held in police custody, while a second suspect remains at large.
Investigators said the motive of the altercation has not yet been established, although it is suspected that the individuals involved had been consuming alcohol before the confrontation.
Police processed the scene and launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspect as investigations continue.
The body was moved to the Egerton University Mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.
Authorities have urged anyone with information that could assist in the arrest of the remaining suspect to report to the nearest police station.
Elsewhere, police in Khwisero Sub-County, Kakamega County, are investigating the sudden death of a 31-year-old man whose body was found lying along a feeder road in Emulunya Village.
The incident was reported on Saturday by a local who alerted authorities after discovering a man lying motionless along the Emasatsi–Eshavuale feeder road.
Officers from Khwisero Police Station visited the scene and identified the deceased as John Imbevi Mayokali, a resident of Emalindi Sub-location.
According to police, the body had no visible injuries, and there were no immediate signs of foul play at the scene.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the deceased had a history of excessive consumption of illicit alcohol, although the exact cause of death has not yet been established.
The scene was documented by investigators before the body was moved to Sonak Mortuary, where a postmortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Police said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing.
