Man killed while walking home from baby shower in Kilifi


Police in Kilifi County launched investigations into the murder of a 50-year-old man who was brutally attacked and killed while walking home from a family celebration.

The incident was reported late Saturday night.

According to police, the victim, identified as Johnson Shauri Gohu, had attended a baby shower ceremony at his brother’s home before setting off for his residence.

Police officers visited the scene at Kirimanzele Village.

They found the body of the deceased lying in a pool of blood along a footpath.

Investigators established that the victim had sustained deep cuts to the head, shoulders and left leg, indicating that he was attacked with a sharp weapon by unknown assailants.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the attack occurred as the deceased was making his way home after the family gathering.

The scene was processed and documented by detectives before the body was moved to Malindi Sub-County Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Police have launched a manhunt for those responsible as investigations continue into the motive behind the killing.

And police in Vihiga County have launched investigations into the death of a 52-year-old man who succumbed to injuries hours after he was allegedly assaulted by unknown attackers and abandoned near his home.

According to the report, the deceased, identified as Wickliff Shabaya, was allegedly attacked by unknown individuals on Friday evening at around 7 p.m. and left lying along a road near his residence.

A good Samaritan reportedly alerted the family, prompting his father to rush to the scene and take him home.

The victim had sustained injuries to his legs and was unable to walk. However, before he could receive further assistance, he succumbed to his injuries at around 11 p.m. the same night.

His body was later moved to Jumuia Hospital Mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.

Police officers from Cheptulu Police Station and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Hamisi visited the mortuary and examined the body.

Investigators documented visible injuries on both legs around the knees as well as injuries to the back of the head, raising suspicion that he may have been fatally assaulted.

Authorities have classified the matter as a suspected murder and have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify those responsible.

A post-mortem examination is expected to shed more light on the cause of death as detectives continue with inquiries.
