Police probe suspected murder after Nyandarua man dies days after assault


Police in Nyandarua County launched investigations into the death of a 50-year-old man who allegedly succumbed to injuries sustained during an assault by a neighbour.

 

The deceased, Simon Mwema Kangara, is reported to have been assaulted on July 6 at Bara-Inya village in South Kinangop Sub-County.

 

According to police, the incident came to light after a woman reported that she visited her brother-in-law on July 8 and found him lying inside his house complaining of severe pain caused by injuries to his ribs.

 

After receiving treatment, he was discharged and went to recuperate at the home of his estranged wife, in Naivasha.

 

Police said that in the early hours of July 9, Kangara’s condition worsened and he allegedly told his wife that he had been assaulted by his neighbour, at their home village three days earlier.

At about 4:30 a.m., his wife found him unresponsive and rushed him back to Naivasha County Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

 

His body was transferred to the Naivasha County Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.

 

Police have opened a suspected murder investigation and are seeking to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault. No charges have been announced, and investigations remain ongoing.

And police in Nyamira County have launched investigations into the killing of a man who succumbed to multiple cut wounds after being found seriously injured by the roadside.

The deceased was identified as Benard Arani Omaro.

According to police, the victim was discovered on Monday evening by a local who was walking to a nearby kiosk to buy milk when he came across a man lying beside the road with multiple deep cut wounds that were bleeding profusely.

Police said the victim was still conscious and identified himself as Benard Arani Omaro.

His father, rushed him to Nyamira County Referral Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition.

Despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life, Omaro later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

His body was transferred to the hospital mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.

Police have classified the case as murder and have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify those responsible. No arrests had been reported by the time of filing the police report.
