21-Year-Old Arrested Over Fatal Assault of Farm Worker in Trans Nzoia

Detectives in Kiminini Sub-County, Trans Nzoia County, have arrested a 21-year-old man suspected of fatally assaulting a farm worker following a confrontation in Tawai village, Wamuini sub-location.

The suspect, identified as Samuel Kemboi, was apprehended after detectives, working alongside officers from Kiungani Police Station and members of the public, launched a pursuit that ended with his arrest.

Police investigations indicate that the deceased, 22-year-old Stephen Ndungu, had only started working as a farmhand a day before the incident.

According to a report filed at Kiungani Police Station, trouble began on the afternoon of August 24, 2026, when Ndungu and Kemboi reportedly got into an argument over a mobile phone.

The disagreement allegedly escalated into a physical confrontation, with Kemboi accused of repeatedly punching and assaulting Ndungu.

The victim reportedly collapsed during the altercation and died at the scene.

Officers who arrived at the scene observed visible injuries on the deceased’s head, face and stomach, prompting detectives to launch investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The confrontation quickly escalated into a physical fight,” police said, as investigators worked to establish what led to the fatal incident.

Kemboi was arrested shortly after the incident and is currently being held at a police station as detectives complete their investigations.

He is expected to be presented before court once the investigations are finalised.
