Two Charged With Murder of Nathan Wasama Masai in Bungoma


Two suspects accused of being involved in the murder of Nathan Wasama Masai have been charged with murder before the High Court in Bungoma.

Brian Chongin Kaos and Oscar Koech Sakong appeared before the court where they were charged with murder, contrary to Section 203 as read with Section 204 of the Penal Code.

The two suspects were each granted a bond of KSh1 million with one surety. The court also provided an alternative cash bail of KSh300,000 for each accused.

Meanwhile, two other suspects linked to the case, Geoffrey Makwere Masai and Robert Sisei Kimutai, were arraigned separately before the Bungoma Chief Magistrate’s Court.

The two were charged with being in possession of ammunition, contrary to Section 89(1) of the Penal Code, as well as preparation to commit a felony, contrary to Section 308 of the Penal Code.

“Geoffrey Makwere Masai and Robert Sisei Kimutai face charges of possession of ammunition and preparation to commit a felony,” the court heard.

Each of the two suspects was granted a bond of KSh150,000 with one surety. Unlike the murder suspects, however, the court did not provide an option of cash bail.

The charges mark a significant development in investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of Nathan Wasama Masai, with the suspects now required to face the respective court proceedings.

The prosecution is expected to present evidence linking the accused persons to the alleged offences as the cases proceed through the courts.
