Suspect Hashim Linked To Another Murder After Woman’s Remains Discovered In City

Detectives investigating the gruesome recovery of a mutilated body dumped at Langata Cemetery have made significant progress in their case against Hashim Dagane Muhumed, the prime suspect in the murders of a mother, her daughter, and her 12-year-old niece.

The dismembered remains of a woman were discovered outside Langata Cemetery on October 31.

Following leads from key evidence found at the scene, investigators traced the victim’s last known movements to a supermarket where she was captured on CCTV shopping on October 29.

Authorities believe the woman may be Deka Abdinoor Gorone, who had been reported missing at the California police station on October 24.

Forensic analysis is currently underway to confirm the identity of the remains.

Detectives have determined that after her shopping trip, the woman went to an apartment in Lavington, where she was again recorded on CCTV entering the premises alongside Hashim Dagane, who lived in the apartment.

The two were seen together before Hashim left the apartment on October 31 carrying two bags believed to contain the victim’s remains, which were found later that day at Langata Cemetery.

Further investigation revealed that after Hashim departed, the apartment owner discovered the disturbing situation, cleaned up, repainted the rooms, and subsequently disappeared.

Authorities are actively searching for this individual and believe it is only a matter of time before he is located and charged.

This incident has raised concerns about the safety of women, although officials maintain there is no specific trend targeting women, emphasizing that murder is a crime that affects all genders equally.

Hashim is currently in custody for 21 days as investigations into his alleged crimes proceed.

Makadara Senior Principal Magistrate Mary Njagi has ordered his detention at Ruaraka Police Station until December 2, 2024, when he will reappear in court for updates on the case.

During the court proceedings, family members of the slain women were present.

Detectives indicated that Hashim, now a flight risk, had already changed his location following the crimes.

His recent arrest took place on Sunday in Eastleigh, Nairobi, where he had been hiding for weeks while authorities extended their search to Somalia and Ethiopia.

Hashim reportedly shaved his beard to avoid detection but continued to move around, leaving his hideout occasionally and returning.

However, an informant tipped off the police about his presence in Eastleigh, leading to an intensified manhunt.

On November 2, CCTV footage captured him exiting a building in Eastleigh, where he was known to frequent while soliciting taxi customers.

Despite his efforts to evade arrest, including using multiple phone numbers to mislead authorities, he was cornered in his hiding spot on Sunday and surrendered when he realized police were closing in.

Upon his arrest, authorities discovered Hashim was in possession of several fake identity documents, including a Kenyan ID.

Investigators revealed that he formerly served as a regional police officer in Ethiopia before moving to Kenya, where he worked as a driver at various schools in Eastleigh.

Hashim is wanted for questioning in connection with the murders of Amina Abdirashid, her aunt Waris Dahabo Daud, and her niece Nusayba Abdi Mohammed from Eastleigh, Nairobi.
