TikTok has become a go-to platform for creative content, with millions of users crafting videos daily. Often, users create drafts and save them for later editing or posting. However, one common challenge many face is transferring these TikTok drafts when switching to a new phone. Since TikTok drafts are saved locally on the device, they don’t automatically move with your account. But with a few steps, you can still transfer them. Here is how to transfer TikTok drafts to another phone.
Why TikTok Drafts Don’t Sync Automatically
When you create a draft on TikTok, the video is saved directly onto the phone you used to make it. This means that even if you log in to the same TikTok account on a new phone, the drafts won’t appear there. TikTok stores published content on the cloud, but drafts are kept only on the device itself for privacy and storage control. As a result, moving drafts requires a manual process.
Using TikTok’s Save to Device Feature
To transfer your drafts, the easiest method is to save them as private videos on your current phone before switching. Open the TikTok app and go to your profile. Tap on “Drafts” and select the video you want to transfer. Edit the draft if necessary, and instead of publishing it publicly, set the visibility to “Private” in the privacy settings section. Post the video. It will now be uploaded to your TikTok account but only visible to you.

Once the video is uploaded as private, log in to the same TikTok account on your new phone. Go to your profile and access your private videos. You will see the content you saved earlier. You can now download the video to your new device and re-upload it as a draft if you still wish to edit or post it later.
Alternative Method: Using File Transfer Tools
If you prefer not to upload the video to TikTok, another option is to use file-sharing apps or USB transfer. On your old phone, use a file manager to locate the TikTok drafts. These are typically stored in the phone’s internal storage under the TikTok folder, which may appear as “com.zhiliaoapp.musically” depending on your device. Inside this folder, navigate to “Drafts” where the video files are stored. Copy these files using a USB cable to a computer or send them via apps like SHAREit, Google Drive, or AirDrop to your new phone.
Keep in mind that these raw draft files may not be compatible with the TikTok app if transferred directly, as they are often not in standard video format. For best results, it’s recommended to screen record the draft or save it using TikTok’s private post method.
