Popular radio and TV personality Steve Jacob Maunda, widely known as Shatta Bway, has officially parted ways with Cape Media Limited the parent company of TV47 and Radio47.
In an emotional message shared on Saturday, May 4, Shatta Bway expressed deep appreciation to his loyal fan base, known as the “Shatta Army,” for their continuous support throughout his media journey.
“Six years ago, I switched on a microphone and introduced you to Shatta Bway and instantly, you became family.
You’ve stood with me through life’s ups and downs. Today, I’ve made another big decision: I have officially left Cape Media,” he wrote.
“I leave with no regrets only gratitude, and a sincere wish to see Cape Media soar even higher.”
Shatta also hinted at an imminent return to the airwaves, responding to his fans’ calls for him to resume regular radio broadcasting.
“You said, ‘Shatta, get back to daily radio,’ and I have listened. Stay tuned—you’ll love what’s coming next,” he teased.
Shatta Bway joined Cape Media in March 2024 after leaving Royal Media Services, where he was a long-serving host on Radio Citizen.
At Cape Media, he not only took on an on-air role but was also appointed Director of Projects and Strategy across the company’s platforms, including TV47, Radio47, and Maybets.
His decision to leave Radio Citizen in 2023 came shortly after the death of his wife.
At the time, he explained that he needed to step back from the demanding schedule to focus on raising their two children.
“Right now, I’m making decisions as both a mother and a father. My son is 13 this is the age parents can easily lose their children emotionally. I want to be present,” he shared in an earlier interview.
He added that his late wife’s final request was for him to protect their children and prioritize family.
“She told me, ‘Go home and protect the children. I’m resting.’ That stuck with me,” he recalled.
At Royal Media Services, Shatta Bway was known for co-hosting the popular Waks Tikitaka mid-morning show alongside Q-Tee and DJ Rambo.
