Former CS for Gender Aisha Jumwa in mourning following mum’s sudden death

Former Cabinet Secretary for Gender Aisha Jumwa is in mourning following the death of her mother, Sidi Karisa.

The politician, her family, and supporters were thrown into grief after her mother passed away in the early hours of Sunday, December 28.

The sad news was first made public by the politician through a social media post sighted by Nairobi News.

Through her post, she revealed that her mother died after a short illness.

Although she did not disclose details of the illness, Jumwa assured the public that she would communicate burial arrangements in due course.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un,” she wrote.

The news of her mother’s passing touched many Kenyans, including fellow politicians who took to different social media platforms to offer their condolences.

“I convey my most heartfelt condolences to Hon. Aisha Jumwa and her family following the passing of her beloved mother, Mama Sidi. This is an immensely painful moment for the family, and I pray that God grants them fortitude and strength to bear the loss. Rest in peace, Mama Sidi. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.”

Other Kenyans also joined in sending messages of condolences, comfort and solidarity to Jumwa and her family during this difficult time.

Aisha was dismissed as the CS for Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage in July 2024, over what was termed as incompetence.

Prior to her sacking, Aisha was one of President William Ruto‘s strongest supporters from the Coast, specifically Malindi.
