Nairobi County Chief Officer for Environment Geoffrey Mosiria has spoken out, advising Pastor Victor Kanyari after an old video of him playfully interacting with his now-grown daughter resurfaced online.
Nairobi News understands the video was recorded many months ago and had previously been posted on social media without attracting any backlash.
However, its reappearance has come at an unfortunate moment, placing Kanyari under scrutiny over what he was seen doing in the clip.
In the video, Kanyari is shown holding his daughter from behind, with their bodies rubbing in a manner many viewers have found uncomfortable.
Among those who reshared the old video is Geoffrey Mosiria, who took to social media to offer fatherly advice to Kanyari, himself a parent to an adult daughter.
Posting the video on his official pages, the Nairobi County official followed it with a lengthy caption cautioning the pastor against sharing such content online.

In his message, Mosiria urged Kanyari to remember that he is the father of a grown girl and should be mindful of his actions around her.
Mosiria noted that while it is normal for a father to be close to his daughter, there is a clear boundary that should never be crossed.
The environmental conservation ambassador further advised Kanyari to stop posting every personal moment on social media, especially those involving his children, and specifically his daughter.
“FREE ADVICE!
My brother, Pastor Kanyari, pole sana for the loss of your children’s mother. We mourn the passing of Betty Bayo, and we stand with you and her current husband, who is feeling this pain even more deeply during this difficult time.
But my brother, allow me to speak with honesty and love. This video you have shared online, where you are seen touching your daughter in a way many people have interpreted as inappropriate, has raised serious concern. Even if your intention was innocent and meant to show affection, not everyone will understand that. The internet judges quickly and harshly, especially when a child is involved,” he posted.
Mosiria emphasised that while some may overlook such closeness between a father and his daughter, African culture strongly discourages certain forms of physical proximity.
“In our African culture, such actions toward a young girl are taken very seriously. This is an innocent child who depends on you for protection, not exposure. As fathers, we must shield our children from anything that could harm them now or follow them later in life. And let me add this respectfully: you need to stop posting everything online. Sometimes it comes across as clout-chasing, especially during sensitive times. Not everything needs to be recorded or shared publicly. Some matters require privacy, silence, and dignity.
If this child was already exposed to the internet like street families whose lives are already in the public eye, that would be different. But this is a protected child, coming from a family that values privacy. Exposing her unnecessarily puts her at risk of future internet scrutiny and emotional torture. Let us protect our children. They deserve safety, dignity, and privacy in both the physical world and the online space. May God give you wisdom, strength, and comfort during this difficult season. Meanwhile, Happy Sabbath!” he added.

His sentiments were echoed by countless netizens who urged Kanyari to take a break from social media and focus on mourning his ex-wife, Betty Bayo.
It is worth noting that Kanyari has been actively posting on his platforms following the sudden death of the mother of his two children.
